I've kind of neglected my blog this month. It's been a bit chaotic here, and we're all trying to adapt to this new rhythm. Lamont was sent on an in-state deployment to the Arizona/Michigan border for the icky 1070 Bill. His guard unit is providing support to the Border Patrol, so he spends 5-6 days a week stationed at Fort Huachuca Army Base, south of Tuscon. It's a good 3.5+ hour drive from us, so he doesn't come home until the weekend (or whenever they give him his 2 days off). It's just a completely different routine now, and it's been a little tough for the kids to get used to, but we're all feeling very thankful that he's not in Afghanistan. Overall, it's been good, I've had a lot to busy myself with, as far as the kids are concerned, but every once in awhile, it's overwhelming to not have someone to pass the torch to, and I find my chocolate and wine intake has increased. I've missed blogging, and as soon as I can find a place for it in my new schedule, I'll be back. In the meantime, I will try to at least keep small updates and photos going for my fam back in Michigan!
Daddy's birthday party was the day before he left for his new duty station.
Made a chocolate cake, which was divine, but the fudgey frosting was a monstrous pain in the a$$, and I will likely never make it again, ugh! Stella went sprinkle crazy on the top...

Shirts vs. skins. Max and Ty never wear shirts, NEVER.
Who won? ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely happy family.
skins always win. they have a plethora of excuses as to why they can't wear whatever shirt I've given them... It's too itchy, too hot, to cold (yes, to cold), the color is ugly, they don't like shirts with animals on them, the lame list goes on and on...
ReplyDeleteI hope Lamont's post goes by quickly for you guys. I know even 3.5 hours of seperation is still not easy. I'm thankful for you that he isn't in Afghanistan, but it still stinks to have distance between your family. My hubby is safely at home too, but we have weeks at a time that he is either stationed 3.5 hours away, or works 32 hour shifts with only 16 hours at home. Either way it just stinks... So I feel your pain :)

I love the sprinkles. Husbandless is hard! I am too right now.
ReplyDeleteAlex, yeah, I feel like I shouldn't eve complain, because he's still in this state, but with a houseful of kids, I do have some challenging days, lol!
ReplyDeleteMissy, yes, I never really realized how much I relied him for certain things, even just for venting too!
See, I can't even formulate a reply free of typos and grammar mistakes!!
